Bring books you may lawfully read.
These terms are an agreement between you and Sugarhouse Tech LLC, the Utah company that operates Capybara Book Reader. You must be at least 18 to join the beta or open a hosted account.
Your books and notes
You keep ownership of files, notes, and other content you provide. You give us only the limited permission needed to store, process, sync, back up, and show that content to you as part of the service. That permission ends when the content is deleted from our systems, subject to ordinary backup retention and legal duties.
You are responsible for having the right to possess, upload, and use each file. Capybara is a personal reading service, not a place to distribute books. Do not upload pirated copies, share account or download access to distribute copyrighted work, or use the service to evade copyright protection.
Acceptable use
Do not violate copyright, privacy, or other rights; upload malware; access another person’s account or data; probe or evade security and access controls; automate abusive traffic; resell the service without permission; or disrupt the service for other readers.
How we handle misuse
We may investigate credible reports and may pause an upload, restrict a feature, limit an account, remove content, or terminate access when reasonably needed to protect readers, rights holders, or the service. We will usually use the smallest action that fixes the problem and give notice and a chance to respond when practical. Serious security abuse, fraud, unlawful distribution, or repeated infringement may require immediate action.
Copyright reports
If you believe content handled by Capybara infringes your copyright, use the contact form. Identify the copyrighted work and the material at issue, give accurate contact information, explain your good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and confirm under penalty of perjury that the report is accurate and you are authorized to act. Include your physical or electronic signature. We may ask for missing information and will review valid reports promptly. This contact path does not claim that we have appointed or registered a statutory copyright agent.
Beta and service changes
The account-free app and beta features may change and can contain defects. Hosted accounts are not publicly available yet. Keep your own copies of important books and notes. We may change or stop features, but will give reasonable notice and an export opportunity before a planned change that would otherwise strand hosted files, when practical.
Purchases
App Store purchases are billed and managed by Apple under the terms shown at purchase. Available features, renewal price, trial, cancellation, and refund paths are disclosed in the app and App Store listing.
Ending use
You may stop using Capybara and request hosted-account deletion. If we end an account for reasons other than urgent security, unlawful conduct, or technical impossibility, we will ordinarily give notice and a reasonable chance to export your content.
Warranty and liability
The service is provided as available. To the extent permitted by law, Sugarhouse Tech LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here removes rights that applicable consumer law does not allow us to waive.
